Position Summary

The Secondary Mathematics Teacher will teach core mathematics to students aged 11-19, fostering a dynamic, inclusive, and engaging learning environment. The teacher will plan and deliver lessons aligned with the curriculum, inspire a love of mathematics, and monitor student progress. This role requires collaboration with colleagues, parents, and school leadership to uphold high academic and behavioral standards.

Key Responsibilities

1. Teaching and Learning

  • Deliver engaging and differentiated mathematics lessons aligned with the curriculum.
  • Create a positive classroom environment that encourages critical thinking and problem-solving.
  • Manage the classroom effectively in accordance with the school’s Behaviour Policy.
  • Utilize formative and summative assessments to evaluate and enhance student learning.
  • Prepare students for internal and external assessments, ensuring they feel confident and supported.
  • Incorporate technology and innovative strategies into teaching practices to enhance learning.
  • Actively participate in curriculum development and adaptation to meet the needs of Middle School learners.
  • Maintain an organized and welcoming classroom that supports academic and emotional growth.

2. Professional Collaboration and Communication

  • Collaborate with colleagues to align lesson plans and teaching practices with departmental goals.
  • Attend team meetings, professional development sessions, and parent-teacher conferences.
  • Maintain open, professional communication with students, parents, colleagues, and leadership.
  • Provide timely updates on curriculum and student progress to parents.
  • Contribute to extracurricular activities and build positive relationships within the school community.
  • 3. Professional Development

  • Engage in regular professional growth activities, including observations, workshops, and in-service training.
  • Submit professional goals annually to the Secondary Principal and work towards achieving them.
  • Stay informed about educational trends, technology integration, and teaching methodologies.
  • 4. Administrative Duties

  • Complete all administrative tasks related to teaching, including lesson planning, grading, and reporting.
  • Participate in curriculum planning, assessment moderation, and policy development.
  • Undertake other responsibilities as assigned by the Secondary Principal.
  • Qualifications and Personal QualitiesProfessional Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mathematics, Education, or a related field required; teaching certification preferred.
  • Prior experience in an international school or cross-cultural training is advantageous.
  • Strong understanding of mathematics instruction and adolescent development.
  • Proficiency in using technology for instruction and communication.
  • Fluency in English, both written and spoken.
