This job description outlines the key responsibilities, qualifications, and expectations for the HR Officer role, helping you understand your position and how you can support our mission.
Team Dynamics
At AGL Uganda, collaboration, support, and mutual respect are highly valued. The HR Officer will work closely with the HR Team, HODs, and all employees to ensure seamless HR operations. The role involves coordinating with internal and external partners, to drive HR goals and enriching the employee experience.
JOB PURPOSE & MAIN MISSIONS :
To manage operational HR activities, including recruitment, onboarding, payroll processing, and training coordination, to support effective HR operations.
Key Responsibilities
Recruitment & Onboarding – Advertise roles, support interviews, manage induction programs, track probation, and ensure job descriptions are updated.
Payroll & Benefits – Assist in payroll processing, manage benefits, and support performance-based incentives.
Training & Development – Coordinate training needs, manage the annual training calendar, and oversee training evaluations.
Employee Relations & Welfare – Handle queries, promote employee wellness, and support grievance handling and compliance.
Performance Management – Facilitate appraisal processes and monitor performance metrics.
Expatriate Support – Assist with work permits, visas, and accommodation.
Union Engagement – Collaborate with shop stewards to address staff issues.
HR Administration – Maintain up-to-date records and promote diversity, equity, and inclusion.
Profile
What We're Looking For
Bachelor's degree in human resources or related field
Minimum of 3 years' experience in a generalist HR role
Proficient in HR systems (SAP, SAGE)
Strong organizational and communication skills
Ability to maintain confidentiality, multitask, and meet deadlines
A self-starter with a collaborative spirit and keen attention to detail
