Job Summary : The Retail team leader is responsible for managing, supporting, and growing the network of sales agents. This role involves recruiting new agents, providing training and support, ensuring agents meet sales targets, and working to achieve company sales objectives. The ideal candidate will have strong leadership and sales skills, be proactive, and demonstrate the ability to coach and motivate sales agents to perform at their best.

Responsibilities and Duties :

  • Agent Recruitment & Onboarding :

ü Identify, recruit, and onboard new sales agents to expand the sales force.

ü Ensure that new agents are effectively integrated into the company, understanding its culture, products, and sales strategies.

ü Facilitate agent registration, provide necessary tools, and ensure all documentation is completed accurately.

  • Sales Training & Development :
  • ü Organize and lead training programs to ensure agents are well-versed in product offerings, sales techniques, and company processes.

    ü Provide ongoing coaching, guidance, and support to agents to help them achieve sales targets and improve performance.

    ü Conduct regular performance reviews with agents to assess their progress and identify areas for improvement.

  • Sales Performance Management :
  • ü Monitor and track the sales performance of agents to ensure targets are being met.

    ü Set individual sales goals for agents and provide the necessary tools and resources to help them succeed.

    ü Identify top-performing agents and recognize their achievements while addressing underperformance with corrective actions or support.

  • Sales Strategy Implementation :
  • ü Implement and execute sales strategies that align with the company’s overall business objectives.

    ü Develop and communicate action plans to help agents achieve sales targets and increase revenue.

    ü Stay updated on market trends, competition, and customer needs to ensure agents are effectively targeting the right audience and generating sales.

  • Qualifications, Experience, Skills & Personal Attributes :
  • A Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, Insurance, or a related field.
  • Relevant professional certifications in insurance (e.g., Chartered Insurance Professional, or other industry-specific certifications) is an advantage
  • At least 5 years of experience in sales, with a focus on insurance products and working with brokers or distributors.
  • Experience in managing an agency sales channel is highly desirable.
  • Proven track record of achieving sales targets and driving revenue growth.
  • Strong sales, negotiation, and relationship management skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build strong relationships with brokers and clients.
  • Strong understanding of insurance products, underwriting processes, and regulatory requirements.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Proficient in using CRM systems, Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint), and other sales-related tools.

  • Working conditions

    The Job’s responsibilities sometimes may require working evenings and weekends, sometimes with little advanced notice, working with challenging clients.

    Reporting Structure : Reports to the Head of Business Development.

    Leadership Development Track

    This is a Channel Leadership Track focused on grooming high-performing sales professionals to lead, develop, and grow an agency-based retail sales force. It is designed to deepen commercial acumen, strengthen people leadership, and align field sales performance with the company’s revenue goals. The track is ideal for individuals demonstrating strong sales ability, coaching skills, and a passion for empowering others to succeed.

    1. Field Immersion & Market Acumen : Gain hands-on exposure to customer segments, market dynamics, and competitor strategies within the retail space.

    2. Sales Strategy & Channel Management Training : Attend structured learning on territory planning, agent life cycle management, pipeline development, and CRM usage.

    3. Agent Recruitment & Onboarding Mastery : Achieve quarterly recruitment targets and demonstrate successful onboarding of new agents who meet their first 90-day KPIs.

    4. Sales Coaching & Review Frameworks : Lead weekly agent performance reviews and coaching sessions, using data to identify skill gaps and motivate performance.

    5. Cross-Functional Collaboration : Partner with underwriting, claims, and operations teams to resolve agent or client issues and enhance service delivery.

    6. Leadership Visibility & Reporting : Present quarterly performance insights, growth plans, and market feedback to senior management, including remedial actions where needed.
