SUMMARY :
An established commercial vehicle and equipment business is seeking a General Manager to lead the turnaround and growth of its heavy-duty truck, trailer, and yellow equipment divisions . This is a senior leadership role with full P&L responsibility , focused on driving sales growth, strengthening aftersales performance, expanding regional presence, and embedding strong operational discipline.
POSITION INFO :
General Manager – Commercial Vehicles & Equipment
Location : Kampala, Uganda (with frequent regional travel)
Key Responsibilities :
- Sales & Business Growth (Primary Focus) : Develop and execute growth strategies for : Heavy-duty trucksTrailersYellow equipment (construction & mining)Deliver sales targets across Uganda and regional marketsBuild and manage key accountsDrive fleet, tender, and project-based salesEstablish and manage regional distributors, dealers, and agentsMaintain strong relationships with OEM partners and suppliers
- Aftersales, Parts & Service : Grow parts and service as a profitable business unitStrengthen workshop productivity, service turnaround times, and warranty management
- Operations & Financial Management : Full ownership of P&L, budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow
- Leadership & Team Development : Lead and develop sales, aftersales, parts, and support teams
- Strategy & Market Development : Identify new growth opportunities such as CKD / SKD assembly, local fabrication partnerships, and financing or leasing solutionsMonitor competitor activity, pricing, and regulatory changesRepresent the business with OEMs, government bodies, and industry stakeholders
Key Requirements :
Qualifications : Bachelor’s degree in , Business, or a related fieldMBA or equivalent will be advantageousExperience - Please only apply if you have the below : 10–15 years’ experience in heavy commercial vehicles, trailers, or construction equipmentMinimum 5 years in a senior leadership role (GM, Country Manager, or Sales )Proven success in driving sales growth within East AfricaStrong experience managing OEM relationships and dealership operationsExposure to fleet sales, government tenders, and project-based salesSkills & Competencies : Strong commercial, negotiation, and strategic skillsSolid financial acumen (P&L, pricing, margins, and working capital)Deep industry knowledge of trucks, trailers, and yellow equipmentHands-on, results-driven leadership styleWillingness to travel extensively across the regionIf you are interested in this opportunity, please apply directly.
