Position : Senior Media Associate - Animal Agriculture
We're looking for an innovative Senior Media Associate - Animal Agriculture with a unique combination of skills who wants to play a major role in tackling climate change.
The Global Strategic Communications Council (GSCC), a programme hosted by the Meliore Foundation,is seeking to appoint a Senior Media Associate - Animal Agriculture, reporting to the Strategic Communications Director for Food and Nature. You will be an astute, motivated story pitcher, who can work with a range of partners and respond to events to increase the quantity and quality of reporting around animal agriculture’s contribution to climate change in the global north.
You’ll be joining our team to secure food and nature at the heart of the climate change debate.
Our role is to act as a centre of expertise for strategic communications on Food, Nature and Climate and to play an active role in helping create more political, media and public
endorsement for action at an international, national and sectoral level.
This role will help develop the media and tactics focused on the need to transition to more sustainable, affordable food systems, a topic which is gaining increasing political and media attention in the global north.
The ideal applicant will have a sophisticated understanding of how to place compelling stories to create real change and shifts in the narrative required to achieve political action on sustainable agriculture and food systems. The successful candidate will be a brilliant and thoughtful communicator, be able to develop media relations quickly and a natural collaborator with a great energy to work diplomatically with a range of experts and partners to advance high impact stories.

How you'll contribute
- Shaping, pitching and amplifying newsworthy media interventions and compelling and salient stories on livestock and climate change in the global north media markets in line with the communications objectives
- Building relationships with key journalists, editors, media influencers and commentators and managing media lists
- Tracking political, public and media (including social media) debates around livestock and climate and distilling to inform strategy development
- Developing / maintaining strong relationships with key correspondents and editors in mainstream and specialist media (food sector trade press and financial press)
- Develop compelling, creative, audience-tailored, story pitches to achieve strategic communication goals
- Build relationships with a range of spokespeople spanning academia, civil society and business
- Provide strategic communications and media pitching advice and services to partners, including on framing and targeted media outreach
- Developing and managing a calendar of key external and partner events and activities
- Monitoring, evaluation and reporting on communications efforts
